A massing model is a simple form of a model to show the general shape and size of existing buildings. The internal areas can also be shown in simplistic form. The model can include a ground surface model to show the surrounding area. Typically massing models are used to demonstrate rights of light issues or for scheme bid proposals.
High resolution aerial photography can be used to economically produce massing models over large areas, for example town and city locations, where the aerial photography is available to purchase.
Bury Associates can provide massing models in a variety of formats compatible with architectural software programs including; Autodesk Revit, Graphisoft ArchiCAD, Nemetschek Vectorworks, Trimble Sketchup, Bentley Microstation, etc.
